About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Sentinel Federal Credit Union is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and negotiations. This role involves managing the finance department and collaborating with human resources, accounting, and operations to ensure the financial health and strategic growth of the Credit Union. The CFO will also mentor staff, promote effective communication, and uphold the organization's values of community service and employee support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop short- and long-term financial objectives to achieve revenue growth and other objectives of the Credit Union.
  • Implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.
  • Oversee investments, business planning, budgeting, expenditures, forecasting, and negotiations.
  • Address issues with staff proactively and mentor managers in problem resolution.
  • Foster an environment of honest and constructive communication.
  • Promote cooperation to achieve business results.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects and initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate project feasibility studies based on requirements and cost constraints.
  • Assist with personnel functions including hiring, terminations, promotions, and performance appraisals.
  • Stay updated on new regulations and participate in educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • 10 years direct and relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Combination of relevant experience and education may be accepted.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of credit union products and services.
  • Working knowledge of organization's policies and service philosophy.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.
  • Advanced analytical knowledge for decision analysis and financial/budget administration.
