About the position

Helios Technologies, Inc. ('Helios' or 'the Company') seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) that will act as a key business partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the executive leadership team. This person will be a big-picture visionary with a hands-on approach to execution. The CFO will provide strategic leadership for all financial activities, including accounting, tax, treasury, FP&A, investor relations, M&A, and risk management. This role requires a dynamic leader who embodies Helios' shared values, with an unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards. The CFO will develop strong relationships with the executive leadership team, Board of Directors, shareholders, external consultants, and internal operational leaders to establish trust and alignment. Partnering with the executive leadership team, the CFO will execute Helios' accelerated growth strategy, including targeted M&A activities, shape and refine messaging to the investor community, and strengthen the finance team's reputation as a trusted business partner that enables strategic decision-making across the organization. In addition, the CFO will be the steward for maintaining a fortress Balance Sheet that supports an effective capital deployment framework, myopically focused on driving accretive returns on investments and delivering strong cash flow generation. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on operational experience in a public company environment with demonstrated success at driving productivity improvements. Prior experience in the industrial technology space is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, shaping and executing Helios' financial growth strategies.
  • Lead the annual five-year strategic long range planning process and analysis to ensure resources are aligned on key objectives.
  • Drive the development and evaluation of growth opportunities, including capital expenditures, investments, new programs, and technology adoption.
  • Lead enterprise risk management initiatives to ensure operational and financial resilience.
  • Oversee financial planning processes to achieve revenue growth, margin targets, cash flow accumulation, and expense efficiency that are aligned with corporate goals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with operational leaders to develop high quality financial analysis (performance metrics, flash reports, dashboards) that provide context and insight to decision makers across the Company.
  • Establish annual financial goals and analyze ongoing performance against those objectives to actively drive performance by ensuring key metrics are measured, reported, and improved.
  • Play a crucial role in all the aspects of M&A activities to ensure deal targets align with the Company's strategic financial objectives and continue to evaluate existing portfolio for strategic fit.
  • Assess the financial health of potential acquisition targets to determine valuation and embed look back analysis to evaluate performance from executed acquisitions.
  • Lead the financial due diligence process to thoroughly examine target company's financial records, accounting practices, and potential liabilities.
  • Determine optimal deal structures, including the mix of cash, debt, and equity to be used to finance acquisitions.
  • Provide financial expertise during deal negotiations to secure favorable terms and multiples that lead to value creation.
  • Develop the post-acquisition integration plans of the acquired company's financial systems, operations, and personnel that ultimately maximize synergies.
  • Articulate Helios' story to internal audiences, the Board of Directors, and external audiences including investors and lenders.
  • Take a lead role in quarterly earnings calls to explain financial results to analysts and investors by effectively communicating the Company's performance and outlook.
  • Participate in investor conferences and seek out new sell-side and buy-side partners.
  • Identify key questions existing and prospective investors will ask during road shows and one-on-one interviews; craft investor narratives in advance of those pivotal meetings.
  • Listen to and act upon investor feedback to gain valuable insights for areas of opportunity in the Company strategy and performance.
  • Enforce accounting policies that safeguard the integrity of Helios' financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards such as U.S. GAAP, PCAOB, IFRS, and state/federal guidelines, along with all SEC reporting requirements.
  • Foster relationship with external auditor while maintaining strong internal controls that ensure the integrity and reliability of the Company's financial disclosures.
  • Facilitate the execution of an efficient annual audit, quarterly reviews, and other required engagements.
  • Serve as a key participant in corporate governance processes, including leading the Audit Committee relationship.
  • Participate in the Ethics & Compliance Program, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the Company's liquidity and capital structure to support growth objectives.
  • Ensure an optimized capitalization of the Company that drives down weighted average cost of capital through strategies for debt and equity issuance or buybacks.
  • Develop strong lender relationships to maintain a diversified and optimized debt structure, with the appropriate amount of fixed and floating debt and staggered maturities to provide flexibility to adjust to changing business conditions, all while supporting the Company long-range growth plans.
  • Create and execute foreign currency hedging strategies to minimize foreign exchange related financial risks.
  • Oversee the Company's adherence to domestic and international tax laws, including timely tax filings to minimize the risk of penalties and audits.
  • Develop tax-efficient strategies and entity structuring that balances tax rates and expense with cash flow optimization, ultimately aligning with the Company's financial and operation goals.
  • Provide leadership in the recruitment, training, and development of strong financial talent to ensure the organization has a high level of performance and productivity.
  • Continue the build-out of a high-performing finance organization, fostering a culture of integrity, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop talent within the accounting and finance teams across the organization, ensuring future leadership readiness and succession.
  • Provide consistent coaching and training on financial literacy concepts to the broader organization.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements

Nice-to-haves

  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • Sitting public company CFO preferred; strong Corporate Controller / Treasurer / Investor Relations leader with public company experience will be considered
