About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a pivotal role in the financial management of a leading fashion company based in New York. This executive position is responsible for directing all finance, accounting, and reporting activities within the organization. The CFO will lead the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring that all financial practices align with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This role requires a strategic thinker who can oversee the financial health of the company while also managing the accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit functions. In this position, the CFO will direct all activities related to finance, accounting, and taxes, ensuring the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports. This includes the preparation of internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and budgets. The CFO will also oversee the accounts payable department, ensuring the timely processing of payments, petty cash, employee expense reports, and cash control measures. Additionally, the CFO will manage the accounts receivable department, ensuring the accurate handling of all non-factored accounts receivable components, including billings and cash receipts. The CFO will be responsible for establishing and maintaining systems and controls that verify the integrity of all financial systems, processes, and data, thereby enhancing the company's overall value. This role also involves analyzing and negotiating contracts, including licenses, bank contracts, and import services. The CFO will report financial forecasting and projections to shareholders on a monthly basis and participate in various special projects, compiling reports as needed. Effective communication with co-workers, management, clients, and other stakeholders is essential, as is adherence to all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all activities for finance, accounting, and taxes for accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports.
  • Oversee the accounts payable department to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, petty cash, and employee expense reports.
  • Manage the accounts receivable department to ensure accurate handling of all non-factored accounts receivable components, including billings and cash receipts application.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls to verify the integrity of all financial systems, processes, and data.
  • Analyze and negotiate contracts including licenses, bank contracts, and import services.
  • Report financial forecasting and projections to shareholders on a monthly basis.
  • Participate in special projects and compile various special reports as needed.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all financial regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of directing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Proficient in Excel with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
