About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Floresville Electric Light & Power System is responsible for providing and interpreting financial information, managing accounting systems, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role involves overseeing cash flows, budgets, and financial reporting, while maintaining relationships with various stakeholders including board members, auditors, and regulatory agencies. The CFO will also manage internal controls and support other departments as needed, acting in various capacities such as Assistant Secretary/Treasurer and investment officer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and interpret financial information by completing various financial and audit reports.
  • Manage daily operations by overseeing accounting, customer service, billing, human resources, and warehousing.
  • Manage the accounting systems by verifying journal accuracy and reviewing general ledger entries.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institution contacts and coordinate with financial auditors.
  • Monitor cash flows and predict future needs by overseeing bank account activities and approving transactions.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage annual capital and operations budget.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and legislation by adapting to changes and completing necessary reports.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or Business at either the Director or CFO level.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or Business at either the Director or CFO level AND a bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Economics or related field.
  • Professional electric utility experience required, with strong knowledge of public purchasing and finance rules.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance, finance, and performance management principles.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among Board of Trustees, executives, partners, and the workforce.
