About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Marquette Companies is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including debt capital market activities, investor relations, and corporate accounting. The CFO will collaborate closely with the CEO, Head of Acquisition, and Head of Development to secure financing for new projects and ensure effective financial management across the organization. This position plays a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the company's continued success in the multifamily investment sector.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all debt capital market activities, including existing loans and securing new financing for acquisitions and development projects.
  • Originate and monitor hedge instruments associated with the company's variable rate property loans.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Head of Acquisition, and Head of Development to source new equity for future projects.
  • Manage investor reporting, working with property and asset management teams to produce timely reports and cash projections.
  • Oversee corporate accounting, annual business plan preparation, budgeting, and cash flow projections.
  • Handle all corporate Federal and State Income Tax matters and partner tax matters.
  • Oversee real estate tax reporting and appeals efforts, collaborating with local counsel and asset management.
  • Manage corporate and property management treasury functions and banking relationships.
  • Work with the COO on corporate risk management, including insurance matters.
  • Represent the company at industry conventions and conferences to maintain and grow key relationships.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in real estate capital markets, investor relations, and strategic planning.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, and/or CPA preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex financial transactions with a track record of completed real estate deals.
  • Experience managing a team of professionals in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating the company's business strategy.
