About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at The Arc Gateway will be responsible for setting the financial strategy and vision for the organization. This executive role involves directing all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, financial operations, and compliance, while also overseeing information technology and human resources. The CFO will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to foster a collaborative and analytical culture, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategy and vision for the financial position of The Arc Gateway.
  • Direct all financial functions including accounting, billing, and budget development.
  • Provide strategic vision and mentorship in financial planning and reporting.
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, and forecasts regularly.
  • Design and implement internal controls and policies for financial operations.
  • Lead budget preparation and implementation in collaboration with management and the Board.
  • Analyze financial reports and communicate results to the CEO and Board Treasurer.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Board Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Assist in preparing grant and contract applications and ensure financial compliance.
  • Direct treasury management functions including investments and debt management.
  • Oversee human resources, payroll, and benefits management.
  • Lead the information technology function to meet current and future needs.
  • Negotiate and maintain employee benefits and corporate insurance policies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and audits.
  • Cultivate and manage team members, guiding their professional development.

Requirements

  • CPA, CFE, CMA or Master's Degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or nonprofit management.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive senior level work experience in a non-profit agency.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Great Plains, Sage, or Netsuite.
  • Thorough knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices for non-profits and GAAP.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Advanced knowledge and utilization of Excel and strong computer literacy.
