About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Northwest Medical Center (NMC) is a key member of the senior management team responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the hospital. This role involves strategic financial decision-making, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing leadership to hospital management to achieve the hospital's mission and financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall financial operations of the acute-care facility including accounting, budgetary, audits, tax, and financial planning activities.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, short- and long-range goals, objectives, and plans in collaboration with system management.
  • Provide financial leadership to hospital managers, directors, and officers to support and encourage participation in decision-making processes.
  • Ensure compliance with necessary financial regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute financial expertise in planning new services to generate additional profitable revenue.
  • Manage costs by identifying opportunities to eliminate non-value costs in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Analyze areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Represent the hospital at various meetings including medical staff and board of director meetings, as well as community meetings as needed.
  • Participate in monthly operation reviews and corporate office meetings as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related field with a minimum of 12 credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive managerial experience in financial/accounting within an acute care environment.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff and the community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal, financial, or medical matters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Recent for-profit acute care hospital CFO experience highly preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.
