The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Construction will play a pivotal role in a leading New England Construction company based in Portland, Maine. This organization is recognized for its excellence in the construction industry, consistently ranking highly on Top ENR lists and receiving multiple awards for its outstanding performance. As a General Contractor primarily focused on the Commercial Sector, the company boasts a robust pipeline of projects and a loyal client base. The CFO will be instrumental in steering the accounting and finance functions, acting as a key partner to the CEO and other members of the Executive Leadership team. This position requires a hands-on approach, with the CFO expected to be on-site five days a week, ensuring close collaboration with the team and stakeholders. In this role, the CFO will be responsible for leading the annual budgeting process and establishing strategic financial goals that align with the company's long-term vision. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership to the Accounting and Finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. The CFO will also be tasked with developing accounting talent and building a high-performing finance team, overseeing hiring and training initiatives. Additionally, the CFO will manage external relationships with CPA and tax firms, regulatory bodies, and compliance entities, which includes overseeing joint ventures, vendor relationships, and financial audits, as well as ensuring compliance with federal and state tax filings. The role will involve implementing structured working capital management and collaborating with the Operations Team to establish, manage, and report on financial results, key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and other strategic initiatives. The CFO will ensure that the company's revenues, expenses, investments, and programs are thoroughly analyzed and understood by the Executive Leadership team, providing actionable business recommendations. Furthermore, the CFO will analyze and identify cost efficiencies, implement risk management practices to safeguard the financial health and profitability of the organization, and complete financial reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis with accuracy and speed. The role will also involve providing guidance on capital expenditures and investments, making it a critical position within the company.
