About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position at our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Oakland, California, is a pivotal role within the organization, focusing on the financial health and sustainability of our services aimed at the underserved Asian population. As a member of the Executive Leadership team, the CFO will be responsible for overseeing the financial administration of the organization, ensuring that we maintain our commitment to providing comprehensive health services, including primary care, mental health, case management, nutrition, and dental care. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in financial management, particularly within the healthcare sector, and will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy of the organization. In this role, the CFO will lead a team of over 20 employees, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and development. The position requires a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of financial regulations and compliance specific to FQHCs. The CFO will also be tasked with developing and implementing financial policies and procedures that align with the organization's mission and goals. This includes budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, as well as ensuring the organization’s financial practices are in line with federal and state regulations. Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in financial management, with at least 3 years specifically in a Federally Qualified Health Center. Experience working with the Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community is highly desirable. The organization is open to considering candidates with a strong FQHC background who are looking to advance to a C-Suite position. The compensation for this role ranges from $200,000 to $250,000, and a relocation package may be available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial administration of the organization, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Lead and manage a team of over 20 employees in the finance department.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that align with the organization's mission.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Executive Leadership team and the Board of Directors.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Ensure the financial sustainability of the organization by monitoring financial performance and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support the overall mission of providing comprehensive health services to the underserved population.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in financial management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance specific to healthcare organizations.
  • Proven track record of managing and developing finance teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with the Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) population.
  • Previous C-Suite experience in a healthcare setting.
