About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at EKI Environment & Water, Inc. will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial operations and corporate accounting, financial planning, risk management, and treasury functions. This position is part of the senior management team and is crucial for the company's growth and development. The CFO will report directly to the Company President and collaborate with the executive management team and the Board of Directors to ensure the financial health and strategic direction of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that support the Company's long-term objectives and growth initiatives.
  • Direct and manage all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Manage, review, and approve all Company contracts.
  • Update and improve the system of financial controls, processes, procedures, and metrics.
  • Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Maintain primary relationships with the Company's banking representatives, accounting firm, corporate attorney, and business insurance broker.
  • Direct and manage the use of space, equipment, and other EKI resources within the context of budgets.
  • Play a key role in the Company's professional risk management.
  • Develop an understanding of the Company's ESOP ownership structure and implement strategies for its health.
  • Review all facility leases and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory entities.
  • Prepare regular financial reports and analysis for the President and Board of Directors.
  • Prepare, update, and monitor the Operating and Capital Budgets as approved by Management and the Board.
  • Formulate and implement policies to protect and utilize Company assets.
  • Oversee the direction and management of the accounting team regarding invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Direct, manage, and streamline payroll, time, and expense reporting processes.
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities as requested by the President or Board.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business with CPA and/or MBA credentials.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in a professional service or consulting-related environment.
  • Prior experience with an employee-owned company.
  • Prior experience with an ESOP-owned company is preferred.
  • Experience with accounting for federal, state, and local government contracts.
  • Proven success in managing the financial affairs of a multi-office, multi-state professional service firm.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).
  • Experience with Deltek Ajera accounting software is preferred but not required.
