About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Socorro Independent School District (ISD) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the district. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of financial strategies that align with the district's goals and objectives. The CFO will manage the financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial operations of Socorro ISD, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the district's goals and objectives.
  • Manage the financial planning and analysis processes to support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees.

  • Monitor and manage the district's financial resources effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in school finance or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements in education.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial software and systems used in school districts.
  • Knowledge of state and federal funding sources for education.
  • Certification as a Chief Financial Officer or similar designation.
