About the position

As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Bluetooth SIG, you will play a pivotal role in steering the financial and IT strategies of the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be an integral part of the executive leadership team, responsible for effective risk management and long-term strategic planning. Your leadership will encompass not only finance and accounting but also the IT mission and priorities of the organization. You will lead a team of over 20 professionals across finance, accounting, and IT, ensuring that all functions operate smoothly and efficiently. In your role, you will oversee all aspects of finance functions, including planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting. You will work collaboratively across teams to create the annual budget, supervise variances, and provide timely financial reporting to the Board of Directors, CEO, and department leaders. Your responsibilities will also include developing presentations and analytical materials for executive management and maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. In addition to finance, you will provide oversight to the IT team, ensuring the development of a strategic IT vision and plan that aligns with business objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring that IT performance metrics are aligned with the technology strategy and that security and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested. Your role will also involve managing legal aspects such as contracts and office leases, as well as fostering the growth and evolution of the IT team through effective leadership and accountability. As a key leader, you will serve as a spokesperson for Bluetooth SIG, interacting with the Board of Directors, customers, and staff. You will be expected to communicate the organization’s vision and strategy effectively, manage risks, and contribute to the overall success of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of Finance functions including Planning & Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting, and Accounting.
  • Work cross-team to create the overall annual budget and supervise variances.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to BOD, CEO, and department leaders.
  • Develop presentations and analytical materials to be presented to executive management and BOD.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures based on established Financial Approval Policy.
  • Develop a proficiency in and a business understanding of all of the financial systems and data sources and an understanding and working knowledge of financial processes, accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Responsible for all tax-related matters.
  • Responsible for internal audits.
  • Support collaboration between Accounting and Human Resources.
  • Lead the annual strategic planning process.
  • Provide oversight to the IT team, ensuring the build of a well-defined and documented strategic IT vision and plan for the SIG.
  • Ensure there is a consistent methodology for considering the IT aspects of business strategy and for including capital and operational IT costs in business initiative budgets.
  • Ensure that infrastructure is cost-effective, flexible, and scalable.
  • Ensure that capital and operational budgets for technology are in place along with exception reporting to executive leadership.
  • Ensure that IT performance metrics are aligned with the technology strategy.
  • Ensure that IT internal controls and audit processes are defined and working properly.
  • Ensure that security and disaster recovery plans and procedures are complete and thoroughly tested.
  • Continually evaluate the potential effectiveness of more automation and AI integration.
  • Oversee implementation of a technology governance process with executive and stakeholder membership and buy-in.
  • Manage and review contracts for the business and other Bluetooth SIG departments.
  • Responsible for office leases and commercial insurances for the company.
  • Own growth and evolution of the IT team by instilling accountability, providing strong leadership and quality execution.
  • Effective management of the accounting and IT team as well as individual members including recruiting, retention, setting expectations, goals, performance, development & training, empathy, mentoring, and motivation.
  • Communicate the 'big picture' and how it relates to the team and individuals on the team.
  • Identify and prioritize any insights that may impact our organization or team goals.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for projects that need executive intervention or support.
  • Raise issues and drive resolution on topics, popular or unpopular, in the best interests of the company.
  • Actively anticipates, identifies, and manages risks within the position scope and at the company.
  • Present and serve as a Subject Matter Expert in revenue and accounting management to the Board of Directors, attending Board of Director's face-to-face meetings and calls as needed.
  • Collaborate, listen to, and support fellow executive team members.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience managing program operations.
  • 15+ years of people management experience.
  • International business experience.
  • Experience leading an IT organization is preferred.
  • Active CPA in Washington state is required.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, meeting facilitation, and presentation).
  • Thorough understanding of project and product management skills, processes, and best practices.
  • High level of computer competency; specific experience using Excel.
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills.
  • Adept at synthesizing large amounts of information and providing concise messaging.
  • Superior strategic and critical thinking skills to identify problem situations and solutions.
  • Exceptional knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
  • Excellent planning skills.
  • Experienced in QuickBooks, Navan, ADP-Workforce Now, and Bill.com or relatable systems.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 programs.
