About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and developing strategies to manage the company's finances effectively. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing complex financial reports, and supervising the finance department to ensure compliance with regulations and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Managing day-to-day accounting functions, including processing invoices.
  • Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
  • Prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
  • Creating budgets.
  • Overseeing and supervising the finance department.
  • Ensuring the financial reporting is accurate, timely and compliant with regulations.
  • Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Developing effective strategies for managing the company's finances.
  • Coordinating documentation for taxes.
  • Analyzing the Company's financial statements.
  • Preparing monthly and annual financial plans for the CEO.
  • Creating strategies to reduce costs and increase revenue.
  • Implementing the company's broader financial strategy.
  • Maintaining full transparency regarding the company's financial performance.
  • Prepares business management proposals for new business.
  • Prepares the preparation of earnings, dividend and other financial reports for the Company.
  • Analyzes profitability trends and reviews results with the Board of Directors.
  • Establishes and implements operating procedures to insure proper internal controls in accounting related areas.
  • Safeguards information for future audit.
  • Providing timely financial information to senior leaders.
  • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Compares profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Eight to ten years of experience in financial management required.
  • Experience working with government contracts desired.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
