About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for modernizing the organization's financial infrastructure and managing all financial and accounting functions. This role involves providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring compliance with regulations, and advising the executive team on financial performance and planning. The CFO will oversee budgeting, cash management, and financial reporting while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence within the finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial and accounting management of the organization.
  • Advise the senior leadership team on financial performance and long-term planning.
  • Manage relationships with the Board of Directors and funding agencies.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial reporting and cash management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Develop cash flow projections and reporting mechanisms.
  • Supervise the finance and accounting team, promoting a culture of accountability and growth.
  • Participate in strategic planning and policy development as a member of the Senior Management Team.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • At least fifteen (15) years of experience in financial management.
  • Minimum of ten years of direct management and supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and human services administration.
  • Experience with budgeting, analysis, forecasting, and cash management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office, particularly advanced Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DHS housing contracts (shelters and supportive housing preferred).
  • Knowledge of database management systems and accounting applications.
