About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Grand Island Regional Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Finance Division, ensuring effective resource allocation, budget preparation, and compliance with financial regulations. The CFO plays a critical role in strategic planning, performance management, and service line growth, while also fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to the mission, vision, beliefs and demonstrate core values.
  • Participate in and/or lead meetings, committees, strategic planning and lean projects as assigned.
  • Serve as Service Excellence champion including implementation and hardwiring of service excellence initiatives.
  • Oversee formulations of division goals and objectives, ensuring proper execution and feedback processes.
  • Oversee performance standards/metrics for departments and coach managers in improving performance.
  • Ensure consistent leadership among division managers and promote effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and oversight in service line growth and development.
  • Oversee departmental budgetary procedures and ensure compliance with budgetary controls.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating managers.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars and workshops.
  • Perform Evidence Based Leadership Practices including staff development and performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for overall physician, employee, and patient satisfaction results in the Finance division.
  • Understand accounting and financial reporting regulations related to governmental programs.
  • Identify internal controls and monitor compliance, coordinating annual audits as needed.
  • Evaluate clinic financial statements and prepare appropriate analysis.
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems for evaluating department costs and profitability.
  • Compile information for comparative analysis and determine benchmarks for evaluation.
  • Assist management in managing productivity and volumes with statistical reports.
  • Evaluate financial feasibility of new or existing services and programs.
  • Manage GIRMC's payer contractuals and advise on material changes as needed.
  • Ensure financial statements meet formatting requirements of Bryan Health.
  • Guarantee accurate and timely preparation of monthly financials for distribution.
  • Develop relationships with auditing firms to ensure timely audits with no controllable adjustments.
  • Lead measurement activities for the Journey to Excellence including patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Prepare operating and capital budgets, including statistical budgets.
  • Develop comprehensive annual budgets reflecting departmental needs based on data.
  • Demonstrate competency in Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance billing requirements.
  • Perform other related projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible work experience in accounting and budgeting functions required.
  • Knowledge of organizational and human resource management standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of ongoing healthcare trends and performance improvement methods.
  • Knowledge of budgetary and financial methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to work functions.
  • Skill in conflict diffusion and resolution.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel and medical staff.
  • Ability to develop written policies and procedures with measurable behaviors.
  • Ability to problem solve and engage critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
  • Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
