About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Central Mechanical is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial planning, reporting, and strategic initiatives of the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of financial, accounting, and operational functions, and involves direct communication with the CEO and executive management team to achieve the company's vision and objectives. The CFO will lead the accounting department, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage financial reporting activities, while also analyzing operational issues and directing risk management efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct treasury, credit/collections, budgeting, Sarbanes Oxley documentation, tax, accounting, purchasing, capital planning, forecasting, information systems, and financial reporting activities.
  • Lead the accounting department in developing processes and procedures for regulatory compliance and accounting controls.
  • Analyze, consolidate, and direct all cost accounting procedures and statistical reporting.
  • Conduct monthly WIP reviews with project managers and divisional leaders to evaluate job performance and manage change orders.
  • Direct activities surrounding the custodian of funds and assets, including inventory control.
  • Appraise the organization's financial position and issue periodic reports on financial stability and profitability.
  • Establish budget programs to measure and drive productivity.
  • Coordinate tax and risk management reporting programs to corporate.
  • Analyze economic, business, and financial conditions to identify enhancements or resource rationalization.
  • Maintain contacts with financial institutions and corporate finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or MBA in accounting/finance or related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance.
  • Familiarity with construction contract language and experience with Federal contracts and construction accounting.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex contract documents.
  • Strong presentation skills for communicating with top management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant License and related professional certifications preferred.
  • Extensive financial leadership experience in a similar industry.
