About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at St. John's is a key executive role responsible for overseeing all financial and administrative functions of the organization. This position plays a critical role in financial planning, budget management, compliance, risk management, and strategic business development, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization while fostering a culture of innovation and compassion in senior services delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for financial operations of the Corporation as detailed in the By-Laws.
  • Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
  • Manage the preparation of all financial results, financial outlooks, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, HUD, and bank reporting requirements.
  • Work with the organization to develop short and long-term business plans.
  • Oversee risk management activities including claims support functions.
  • Maintain bank relations and appropriate cash flow/treasury functions.
  • Manage relationships with strategic business partners.
  • Maintain accurate records, controls, and safeguards of all income, expenses, assets, and liabilities of the Corporation.
  • Prepare detailed reports for the Board regarding budget and financial operations.
  • Present a detailed statement of the investment portfolios to the Board of Directors annually.
  • Prepare financial statements audited annually by a certified public accountant.
  • Execute reports required by law or regulation as the 'Treasurer'.
  • Work with the leadership team to develop/improve the organization's business model.
  • Serve on the Foundation Committee and provide financial status summaries.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • Extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, prepare financial statements, and projections.
  • Understanding of risk management and related claims.
  • Ability to contribute to the profitability of the business entity with an understanding of core business drivers and technology strategies.
  • Contract negotiation experience required.
  • Proven leadership track record for establishing financial controls and accountabilities.
  • Experience with tax-exempt entities preferred.
  • Track record of strategic planning and implementation.
  • Experience in leadership of a fiscal operation.
