About the position

This position has overall accountability for providing leadership, direction, and administration of financial activities, including accounting, financial systems and control, compliance, financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting at assigned facility/entity. This position also participates in and/or leads various system level work around service lines, revenue integrity, discipline teams, etc. This position oversees financial decision-making and serves as a member of the facility/entity senior leadership team. This position is also responsible for driving, supporting and modeling a service-oriented culture focused on employee engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility and the overall patient experience. The role requires providing leadership in the achievement of financial and operational performance objectives and expectations including revenue growth, operational margin targets, effective expense management and overall efficiency measures. This includes the use of analytical processes to assure the achievement of initiatives and the implementation of performance improvement opportunities in the areas of operational performance, clinical excellence, patient satisfaction and employee engagement. Additionally, the position supports the achievement of performance goals, defining accountabilities and providing advancement opportunities for future leaders, including mentoring finance staff and increasing financial understanding throughout the facility. The position also drives process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and operational models designed to improve clinical services, outcomes, patient throughput, and patient safety. It promotes a patient-centered, healing environment and the use of technology in the workplace to streamline operations, facilitate communications, and optimize work processes. Furthermore, it ensures and fosters a high level of collaboration within a highly-matrixed team environment to coordinate activities, review work, exchange information, and resolve problems. The role functions as an integral member of facility/entity operations, serving in an advisory capacity to applicable staff and directing the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of strong, comprehensive clinical and operational services that meet system-wide organizational growth initiatives and the needs of patient populations in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the achievement of financial and operational performance objectives and expectations including revenue growth and operational margin targets.
  • Evaluate and assess growth and operational initiatives, including the development and implementation of strategic programs and service lines.
  • Support the achievement of performance goals, defining accountabilities and providing advancement opportunities for future leaders.
  • Drive process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and operational models to improve clinical services and patient safety.
  • Ensure collaboration within a highly-matrixed team environment to coordinate activities and resolve problems.
  • Serve as an integral member of facility/entity operations, advising staff and directing strategic development of clinical and operational services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related degree.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of financial operations in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership that reinforces the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Effective communication skills through written and oral presentations.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience working as a CFO in an integrated delivery system or medical center.
  • Membership in industry organizations or credentials that show ability to network and obtain peer acceptance.
