About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team at a start-up motorcycle manufacturer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role involves overseeing all financial operations to ensure the company's long-term financial health and stability, while fostering a team-oriented environment dedicated to customer experience and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to support business objectives.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives, including fundraising, acquisitions, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Lead financial strategy, planning, and forecasting to align with company goals and product development timelines.
  • Manage relationships with lending partners, ensuring optimal capital structures and compliance with loan agreements.
  • Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Manage Tax Planning & Investment Allocations.
  • Oversee year end preparations, external CPA engagements, and manage the annual financial statement review.
  • Lead forward-looking financial modeling to assess liquidity, future cash needs, and financing options.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve inventory management and production cost accounting.
  • Develop internal financial controls to mitigate risks and safeguard company assets.
  • Provide leadership in building out the company's HR function.
  • Support process improvements and help scale operations to meet market demand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of financial leadership experience, ideally in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
  • Strong background in capital management, lending relationships, and external financial reporting.
  • Expertise in cost accounting, New Model Development allocation, and inventory management for production-based businesses.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead financial planning and analysis for a growing company.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and implementing financial controls.
  • Proven track record of supporting business growth and scaling operations effectively.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience building finance and HR teams.
