About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals will oversee and manage the financial operations of a new hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role is crucial for ensuring the hospital's fiscal health and compliance with financial regulations, while also contributing to strategic planning and operational efficiency. The CFO will be responsible for the preparation of financial statements, budget management, and revenue cycle oversight, playing a key role in the hospital's leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion of timely and accurate monthly financial statements, including monthly operating reports, certifications, disclosures, and forecasts.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis in compliance with company policies, identifying and correcting variances.
  • Confirm accounting and business office policies and internal controls are in place for audit with no material adjustments or deficiencies found.
  • Prepare annual operating budget and participate in the annual strategic planning process, including ongoing analysis of variances from budget and implementing necessary changes.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies to ensure accuracy of payments and recorded revenue deductions.
  • Review revenue cycle metrics to identify and address issues affecting overall performance, including timely collection of accounts receivable and limiting uncompensated care.
  • Engage in Front End Revenue Cycle processes, ensuring completed insurance verification on 100% of patients and working with financial counselors for proper patient portion determinations.
  • Monitor purchases to ensure supply costs are kept within budgeted levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or business-related field with a major in Accounting required; Master's degree or CPA is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of successful CFO experience in a healthcare setting desired.
  • Previous behavioral healthcare experience highly preferred.
  • Previous experience with a proprietary healthcare system is a plus.
  • Excellent financial analysis skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with software packages including Excel and Word.
