About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at POIC is responsible for developing financial tools and systems to provide critical operational information to the CEO. This role involves overseeing financial compliance, reporting, and monitoring for numerous contracts, collaborating with executive leadership, and ensuring the organization meets its financial goals and strategic objectives. The CFO will also manage the fiscal department, support the Controller, and represent the organization to financial partners.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee revenue recognition, compliance, reporting, and financial monitoring for 90+ complex contracts.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to engage the board and finance committees on financial issues and trends.
  • Assess organizational performance against the annual budget and long-term strategy.
  • Manage budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Partner with the CEO to set financial goals and strategy for the organization.
  • Utilize QuickBooks to support day-to-day operations and make recommendations.
  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and participate in corporate policy development.
  • Manage all financing and banking relationships and represent the organization to financial partners.
  • Prepare and maintain regular financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs for the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Conduct analysis of financial results and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Participate in the analysis of business initiatives and execute decisions using predictive models.
  • Provide direction for the fiscal department to ensure proper maintenance of accounting systems.
  • Support the Controller in maintaining internal controls and financial policies.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting for funders and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with legal regulations.
  • Coordinate audits and tax return filings in collaboration with the Controller.
  • Oversee execution of business contracts and relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent, CPA and/or MBA required.
  • Ten or more years' experience as a CFO or equivalent, preferably in a non-profit organization with a budget of at least $10M.
  • Experience managing finance and accounting software packages.
  • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff.
  • Significant experience in non-profit accounting, including fund and grant accounting.
