About the position

The Stellar Family of Companies is a privately held real estate firm specializing in the multifamily industry. We operate a diversified family of companies focusing on Investment, Development, Construction, and Management within the Multifamily Industry. We are a purpose-driven organization characterized by passion and excellence. The Chief Financial Officer will work out of the Lubbock office and will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy of the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, and compliance. They will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding the company's financial strategy and operations. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management, ensuring that the financial health of the organization is maintained and enhanced.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Accounting Department including day-to-day operations of the corporate accounting functions, development and construction projects.
  • Oversee 4-5 accountants.
  • Monitor cash management, forecasting and risk management.
  • Interface with legal, 3rd party CPA firm, and auditors and lenders.
  • Enhanced CFO type of activities as described above. Especially forecasting models, working capital management models, cash management/investment, enhanced controls and processes, enhanced cyber security, centralization through automation to take work off of onsite personnel.
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures based on GAAP and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate training and development of all accounting staff.
  • Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Closes.
  • Liaison to company and property ownership regarding financial related issues.
  • Support the financial planning and analysis efforts.
  • Oversee cash flow, cash management, working capital, and company audits.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure legal compliance on all financial functions.

Requirements

  • Strong finance-based analytical skills
  • 5 - 7 years' of finance experience
  • 2 years supervisory experience
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required
