About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial activities within the facility. This includes managing accounting, financial systems, compliance, financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting. The CFO will play a crucial role in the senior leadership team, providing strategic direction and ensuring that financial decision-making aligns with the organization's goals. In addition to financial oversight, the CFO will evaluate and assess growth initiatives, develop strategic programs, and manage capital acquisitions. This role involves mentoring finance staff and enhancing financial understanding across the organization to support sound business decisions. The CFO will also drive process improvements and promote innovative care delivery models to enhance clinical services and patient outcomes. Collaboration within a highly matrixed team environment is essential, as the CFO will work closely with other leaders to coordinate activities and resolve issues. The CFO is responsible for the overall financial and operational performance of the facility, ensuring compliance and viability. This includes developing both short-term and long-term business strategies, optimizing resource utilization, and making informed business decisions. The role requires effective communication with various stakeholders, including internal staff, medical professionals, regulatory agencies, and the community, to foster strong relationships and support organizational growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in achieving financial and operational performance objectives, including revenue growth and effective expense management.
  • Evaluate and assess growth and operational initiatives, including strategic programs and capital acquisition.
  • Mentor finance staff and enhance financial understanding throughout the facility.
  • Drive process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and operational models.
  • Foster collaboration within a highly-matrixed team environment to enhance patient experience.
  • Serve as an advisory member of facility operations, directing the development and implementation of clinical and operational services.
  • Ensure compliance and viability of the facility, developing short-term and long-term business strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience in healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of financial operations and ability to lead in alignment with the organization's mission and values.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, to engender understanding and trust.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience as a CFO in an integrated delivery system or medical center.
  • Membership in industry organizations or credentials that demonstrate networking ability.
  • Additional related healthcare finance education and/or experience.
