About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Gulf Coast Crane Services is responsible for overseeing the financial statement preparation, analysis, and consolidation of the company's reporting entities. This role involves providing comprehensive financial updates to senior management and the board, managing accounting processes, and guiding financial decisions in alignment with company policies. The CFO will also collaborate with various departments to develop operational strategies and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management and board by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting key data
  • Oversee monthly and annual accounting closing processes, ensuring accurate transaction recording
  • Review monthly activity entered in the accounting and operating systems to ensure that all transactions are booked in the correct period, categorized, and coded appropriately
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies with benchmarks and budget recommendations, achieving goals through effective scheduling and analysis, addressing variances as needed
  • Perform analytical procedures over the financial reports, prepare variance analyses, and follow up on significant fluctuations
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of financial accounts and the effectiveness of accounting controls and effective operations
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies to current economic conditions
  • Manage the relationship with the Company's third-party tax consultants and external auditors and serve as the Company's point person for annual audit requests
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and corporate income tax filings
  • Assist in the financial integration of acquired entities
  • Work with the CEO and department managers to drive the development of annual budget and quarterly forecast updates
  • Take part in special projects requested by Senior Management and Board of Directors, including special reports and process improvements
  • Professional development of direct reports to improve accountability and increase organizational visibility
  • Collaborate with the CEO and private equity sponsor(s) on compliance with Lender requirements and covenants
  • Serve as the primary contact for treasury matters and cash forecasting, addressing liquidity issues proactively
  • Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development and improvements

Requirements

  • At least five years of relevant experience, preferably as a Controller/CFO in a multi-site B2B service environment
  • Experienced in working with multiple entities and multiple sites
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred, especially with Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and application to Gulf Coast Crane's business
  • Knowledge of private equity, mergers & acquisitions, and purchase accounting preferred
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with business system selection and integration preferred
  • Ability to work effectively across organizational and functional boundaries
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management, and documentation skills
