About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at IAVI is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the Finance, Procurement, Facilities, and Donor Compliance departments. The CFO will develop and implement strategies to manage these areas effectively, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance while supporting the organization's mission to translate scientific discoveries into global health solutions. This position requires strong financial management skills, the ability to lead transformation initiatives, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Finance, Procurement, Facilities, and Donor Compliance departments.
  • Develop and implement overall strategies for financial management and compliance.
  • Serve as a Business Partner to the executive team, evaluating and managing strategic priorities.
  • Support and manage the Audit & Finance Committee of the Board.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage procurement and contracting processes and operations.
  • Lead transformation initiatives to align the finance organization with organizational growth.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Oversee global facility needs and ensure effective use of real estate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • 20 years of experience in finance, with a minimum of 10 years in people management roles.
  • Experience in senior-level strategy work for a medium or large global organization.
  • Non-profit financial accounting experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life-science sectors preferred.
  • Understanding and experience with GAAP required.
  • Experience with government and foundation funders preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with non-profit accounting practices, including filing form 990.
  • Treasury experience including cash flow planning and currency risk management.
  • Experience supporting global audits and consolidating multiple global entities.
