About the position

Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive leadership team and act as a strategic advisor to the founders of the business. This role is critical for the organization, which operates in the Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industries, with revenues exceeding $500 million. The CFO will be responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing both short and long-term strategic financial objectives to manage growth and maximize returns. This includes overseeing financial investments, budget initiatives, cash flow management, and leading financial planning efforts in collaboration with the Executive Team and Board of Directors. The CFO will lead the accounting and finance departments, ensuring the accuracy and credibility of financial operations and reports. This role involves establishing budgets with functional leaders and providing timely financial forecasts along with analysis and recommendations. The CFO will evaluate and advise on the impact of business goals and regulatory changes, helping to identify business needs and propose financial solutions. Additionally, the CFO will maintain effective internal controls, supervise cash management, and ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory laws. In this position, the CFO will cultivate relationships with accountants, banks, and vendors, monitor investments, and provide critical assistance on mergers and acquisitions. The role requires a high level of integrity, dependability, and a strong results orientation, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across various levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial leadership roles, particularly in organizations with significant revenue and complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend, develop and implement short and long-term strategic financial objectives of the Company.
  • Lead the accounting and finance departments, ensuring accuracy, controls and credibility of financial operations, cash flow and financial reports.
  • Establish budgets with functional leaders, Executive Team and Board, and provide periodic and timely financial forecasts, along with analysis and recommendations.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of business goals, objectives, initiatives, new programs or strategies and regulatory changes.
  • Identify short- and long-term business needs and propose solutions, advising on the financial implications of business activities and initiatives.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and supervise cash management and treasury activities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws for financial and tax reporting.
  • Establish and cultivate working relationships with accountants, banks and other vendors.
  • Monitor and manage investments and use of funds, debt leverage and investments to minimize costs and maximize return on investment.
  • Provide critical assistance on mergers and acquisitions in collaboration with the Executive Team and Board of Directors.
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement improved systems and processes for efficient management of the finance and accounting department.
  • Manage capital investments, operations and administrative costs to maximize profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or any other related field.
  • 10 - 15 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles.
  • Prior experience as a CFO (or divisional CFO / VP of Finance) of an organization that exceeds $500M in revenue.
  • Prior experience in the F&B, Manufacturing or CPG industries.
  • Outstanding tactical and strategic skills with proven ability to handle financial analysis and reporting.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with, and/or manage, at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to work in a complex company and industry and find creative solutions that address multiple functional needs.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other related field.
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license.
  • Prior experience with an organization that is highly acquisitive.
  • Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or a similar enterprise ERP system; Power BI a plus.

  • Competitive total compensation package including a base salary band of $350k - $500k.
  • Minimum performance-based bonus of 50%.
