About the position

Community First Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center with 50 years of health care experience in St, Clair and Macomb counties, is seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. As the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of our organization. You'll lead financial planning, participate in risk management, and capital strategies, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact in a collaborative and innovative environment, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership to execute our ambitious goals. The CFO is part of the Executive Team of the health center and has overall responsibility for directing the center's financial planning, accounting operations, and revenue cycle. In addition, the CFO provides oversight and direction related to facility needs, working closely with all department leaders and reporting directly to the Chief Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning and risk management strategies.
  • Develop agency budgets for internal operations and grant applications.
  • Provide accurate and timely monthly financial reporting for the CEO and Board of Director's Finance Committee.
  • Perform financial analysis and generate relevant reports to support decision making and planning.
  • Complete all required third-party financial reporting related to finances including Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reporting.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations for participation in Insurance Plans and Pharmacy (340B) contracts.
  • Assist in the development of patient fees, sliding fee scales, and determination of patient eligibility criteria.
  • Supervise and direct staff within the Finance and Billing Departments.
  • Create, implement, review, and revise systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls for proper accounting practices.
  • Oversee the Agency's revenue cycle to ensure maximum collections for services rendered.
  • Facilitate the completion of IRS form 990 for timely Board Review and submission.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual Uniform Data System (UDS) report and other grant reporting requirements.
  • Maintain adequate cash reserves to ensure day-to-day operations are not compromised.
  • Coordinate the procurement of insurance necessary to protect the assets of the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with 340B regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a similar financial leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.
  • Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, sales, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience in the healthcare sector, particularly with Federally Qualified Health Centers.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with grant writing and management.
