About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Fox Rothschild will oversee the firm's financial operations, contributing to its financial growth and strategic direction. This role involves close collaboration with senior management and committees to enhance financial performance and ensure efficient operations. The CFO will manage daily financial activities, develop financial policies, and lead the finance department while also representing the firm externally.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Senior Management on financial implications of business activities and make recommendations to enhance financial performance.
  • Prepare special analyses and evaluations in support of major business decisions.
  • Respond to inquiries from Partners regarding financial, compensation, and tax matters.
  • Develop operating policies and procedures for business objectives.
  • Contribute to growth strategies and long-range planning.
  • Build and lead a strong finance department.
  • Ensure efficient operation of accounting and finance functions.
  • Prepare short- and long-term financial projections and analysis.
  • Improve financial processes and create infrastructure focusing on people, process, and systems.
  • Lead the budgeting process.
  • Coordinate tax return filings and maintain accounting records in compliance with regulations.
  • Manage financial tax and local reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare annual K-1 tax worksheets and coordinate with external accountants.
  • Oversee equity partner compensation programs and reporting.
  • Provide insightful financial reporting packages for Senior Management.
  • Partner with the Chief Pricing Officer on alternative fee arrangements.
  • Drive best practices in client billing and collections within the legal industry.
  • Represent the firm at industry events and conferences.
  • Manage banking relationships and develop a strong network of external contacts.
  • Lead special project teams and perform special projects.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business required.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Experience as a Director of Finance, Controller, or CFO.
  • Minimum of 15 - 20 years progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Professional services and legal industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience overseeing a multiple office environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong appreciation for procedure, process, and operational excellence.
  • Excellent presentation skills and strong executive presence.
  • Strong network of external professional contacts.
  • Ability to write accurately and succinctly.
