About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Cedar Hill ISD is responsible for directing and managing all financial and business affairs of the district. This includes overseeing accounting, payroll, employee benefits, accounts payable, and risk management. The CFO will also manage purchasing and contracts management services, food service operations, technology services, and facility and maintenance operations. As the Chief Financial Officer and investment officer, the individual will act as a liaison to the Dallas Central Appraisal District and the Dallas County Tax Office, ensuring that the district's financial operations align with local regulations and standards. In this role, the CFO will be expected to provide strategic financial leadership, develop and implement financial policies and procedures, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. The position requires a strong understanding of school finance, budgeting, and financial analysis, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including school board members, district administrators, and community members. The CFO will also be responsible for preparing financial reports, managing audits, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop complex spreadsheets and perform detailed financial analysis. The CFO will need to interpret policies and procedures effectively and manage both budgetary and personnel matters within the district. This position is critical to the financial health and sustainability of Cedar Hill ISD, and the CFO will play a key role in shaping the district's financial future.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the operation of all financial and business affairs of the district.
  • Oversee accounting, payroll, employee benefits, accounts payable, and risk management.
  • Manage purchasing and contracts management services.

  • Serve as the Chief Financial Officer and investment officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or accounting related field.
  • Master's degree in a business-related field (preferred).
  • Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) RTSBA certification (preferred).
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop complex spreadsheets and perform analysis.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel.
