About the position

As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, you will play a pivotal role in leading the financial management and strategic direction of the organization. This position is not just about numbers; it is about using your expertise to make a significant impact in the community by alleviating hunger and poverty. You will be part of a dedicated Senior Leadership Team, working alongside passionate leaders who are committed to the mission of Gleaners. The CFO will oversee an annual operating budget of $25 million, ensuring that all financial, information technology, and risk management functions are executed effectively and efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of Gleaners' financial management, including transactional accounting, treasury management, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance with GAAP standards and Feeding America guidelines. You will prepare and manage the annual fiscal budget, monitor financial performance against set goals, and ensure that robust business analytics and managerial reporting are in place to support decision-making at all levels of the organization. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining the financial health and sustainability of Gleaners, as you will interact closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Directors to provide consultative support and strategic recommendations. Additionally, you will oversee the development and execution of the organization's information technology strategy, ensuring that it aligns with Gleaners' overall business objectives. You will assess and mitigate risks associated with technology investments and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations. In terms of risk management, you will develop and maintain business continuity programs and manage Gleaners' insurance needs to align with its financial goals. As a leader, you will provide supervision, coaching, and training to your direct reports, fostering a positive work environment and motivating staff to achieve organizational objectives. Your role will also involve active participation in strategic planning activities, ensuring that Gleaners continues to thrive in its mission to fight hunger in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of Gleaners financial management including transactional accounting, treasury management, financial reporting, payroll, and audits.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor Gleaners annual fiscal budget and processes to meet strategic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, Feeding America guidelines, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Interact with CEO, SLT, Board Treasurer, and other leaders to provide consultative support to planning initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor all fundraising and accounting systems and procedures for capturing donations and revenue transactions.
  • Utilize predictive financial models to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and SLT.
  • Oversee the development and execution of an overall information technology strategy for Gleaners.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with Gleaners' business operations and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, training, and evaluation for direct reports.
  • Promote a positive work environment and motivate staff to achieve organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Experience in high-level accounting, finance, or business management, with supervisory experience preferred.
