About the position

York Automotive Group is seeking a highly skilled Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive team. The CFO will play a critical role in shaping the organization's financial strategy, ensuring sustainability and growth. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen and leadership capabilities, who can effectively manage financial operations while providing insights that drive business performance. Proven automotive dealership experience is essential, along with a commitment to developing staff and fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee completion of monthly financial statements according to dealership guidelines and within each manufacturer's format and time limits.
  • Interpret the financial statements and the daily operating control (DOC) routinely and inform management of developing trends.
  • Provide department managers with detailed financial and management reports for the dealerships.
  • Review the reconciliation of the general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Maintain an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Conduct thorough business analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
  • Manage/train and mentor individual store Office Managers and the Human Resources Department to oversee their growth and development.
  • Manage risk analysis processes to safeguard the company's assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and investors.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records, etc.
  • Manage the dealership Reynolds & Reynolds ERA-Ignite computer system to maximize utilization.
  • Ensure that all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyses and supervise the preparation of all information for the outside CPA Firm to minimize audit or review costs.
  • Continually strive to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealerships.
  • Attend managers meetings for all stores.
  • Maintain professional appearance.
