Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our growing management team. The CFO will serve as a strategic and collaborative partner, optimizing the financial planning and accounting practices of the organization while ensuring accurate and timely reporting for all business activities. This role involves overseeing and directing cash flow projections, treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long-range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization. The ideal candidate will be adept at reporting to our Board of Directors in a professional manner and will be able to execute work under pressure and tight deadlines. In this position, the CFO will synthesize information into concise presentations and reports to convey financial information to the CEO, Senior Leadership team, and Board of Directors. The CFO will partner with the Senior Leadership Team and Finance Committee members to coordinate presentations and monthly reporting to the Board. Additionally, the CFO will oversee the financial accounting systems, focusing on data accuracy, financial reporting, and cost management. The role requires ensuring optimal use of the financial accounting system to support strategic financial planning, efficiency, and process improvement while maintaining data security. The CFO will lead the Finance/Accounting team towards cohesion, knowledge transfer, and strong business and financial acumen. This includes formalizing succession planning and career pathways for finance/accounting. The CFO will work closely with the Executive Director and software providers to ensure the necessary computer application systems and programs are in place to maintain proper records and provide adequate accounting controls and services. Furthermore, the CFO will oversee and prepare reports summarizing and forecasting the organization's business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations. The role also involves appraising the organization's financial position and issuing periodic reports on Habitat's financial stability, liquidity, and growth. The CFO will direct and coordinate the establishment of budget programs, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation for the annual operating budget for approval. The position also includes managing grant and program audits and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements for grant compliance. The CFO will advise senior leaders on operational adjustments due to tax code revisions and coordinate with external auditors for annual audits of financial statements. Additionally, the CFO will oversee the preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies and be responsible for all accounting policies, including maintaining a reserve. The role requires analyzing studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations, as well as building relationships with contacts at banks and other financial institutions to source financing and community development funds for business activities.
