Fred Finch Youth & Family Services (FredFinch/FF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing culturally responsive services that promote mental and physical resilience and wellness. Established as an orphanage in 1891, Fred Finch was founded on the principle that no one—regardless of their background, financial status, or personal challenges—should be neglected or forgotten. Over the past 133 years, Fred Finch has evolved into a comprehensive service provider for children, youth, and families across California, maintaining a credo of hope and healing. With a dedicated team of 380 full-time employees, Fred Finch is headquartered in Oakland, California, and has regional offices in San Diego, Contra Costa, and San Mateo Counties. The organization operates with an annual budget of approximately $37 million. The organization is currently seeking an experienced nonprofit finance leader to fill the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position will serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO, Board, and Executive team, responsible for overseeing all fiscal duties for the agency. The CFO will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Fred Finch, helping the organization grow and achieve financial sustainability. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and analysis, particularly at a senior leadership level within the nonprofit sector. They will be expected to build and lead high-performing, stable, and functional teams while effectively communicating financial information to a diverse range of stakeholders. A desire to mentor others and maintain a healthy and productive work environment is essential, as is the ability to achieve the organization's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO, Board, and Executive team.
  • Oversee all fiscal duties for the agency, ensuring financial sustainability.
  • Lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, and analysis for the organization.
  • Build and lead high-performing finance teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Communicate financial information effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Mentor team members and maintain a healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and analysis at a senior leadership level, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing, stable, and functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate financial information to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Desire to mentor others and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA) preferred.
  • CPA license is a plus.

Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $210,000 to $250,000 plus benefits.
