About the position

Our client is a leading, VC-backed biotech company in the Bay Area with a promising therapeutic indicated for a rare neuro disease. They are led by a highly skilled & experienced team with a strong commitment to patients and innovation and, with a product launch on the near horizon, they are well poised for an IPO. We are seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to spearhead our financial strategy and operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and results-oriented financial leader with sales skills, a proven track record of working with investment banks, and previous successful IPOs in the biotech industry. This individual will be instrumental in shaping our client's financial future, collaborating closely with the CEO to develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy as they bring this treatment to the market.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), treasury, tax, and investor relations.
• Develop and implement financial strategies to support business growth and profitability.
• Lead the IPO process, including financial modeling, due diligence, investor relations, and SEC filings.
• Build strong relationships with investment banks and underwriters.
• Collaborate with the CEO to develop and execute fundraising strategies, including preparing investor presentations and financial projections.
• Manage the fundraising process from start to finish.
• Develop and maintain financial models, budgets, and forecasts.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
• Support business development initiatives, including possible M&A, licensing, and partnership opportunities.
• Conduct financial analysis and due diligence for potential transactions.
• Develop and implement processes and systems to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

Requirements

• Proven track record as a CFO in the biotech industry with a strong emphasis on taking companies public.
• Extensive experience in IPO preparation and execution, including SEC reporting and compliance.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising and capital markets.
• Strong financial modeling, analysis, and presentation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with investors, board members, and stakeholders.
