About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Valor Health is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategic financial planning of the organization. This executive role involves managing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance to ensure the organization's fiscal health. The CFO collaborates with the executive team to develop financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals, while also monitoring financial performance and optimizing resource allocation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial operations and strategic financial planning of the organization.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement financial strategies.
  • Monitor financial performance and optimize resource allocation.
  • Provide financial insights to guide decision-making.
  • Lead and support company culture as a visible leader to managers, employees, and board members.
  • Manage departments including Accounting/Finance, Revenue Cycle, IT, Dietary, Materials Management, Pharmacy, and Facilities/EVS.
  • Train and educate front line leaders on the financial impact of their operational decisions.
  • Ensure daily decision-making aligns with the organization's strategic initiatives.
  • Lead various projects and participate in creating and executing the strategic plan.
  • Oversee accounting systems to maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, and transactions.
  • Prepare operating and capital budgets for approval.
  • Direct the compilation of financial and operating reports for effective administration.
  • Ensure timely preparation and review of financial reports for the Hospital Board and leadership.
  • Manage cash balances to sustain operations and support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Work with external auditors and government agencies to prepare required reports.
  • Continuously monitor Accounts Receivable and drive success through metrics and KPIs.
  • Maintain knowledge of healthcare finance, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Assist with fixed assets and depreciation schedule preparation.
  • Oversee Revenue Cycle leadership and ensure contracts with insurance payors are reviewed and negotiated.
  • Participate in organizational committees and hospital board meetings as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with information systems for general ledger, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, and report writing.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to identify and define problems and develop solutions.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Exhibit tact and understanding in interpersonal relations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and good problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA), Finance, or Health Care Administration (MHA).
  • Three to five years of healthcare industry experience in a financial managerial position.
  • Critical Access Hospital experience.
