About the position

Windmoor Healthcare of Clearwater is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee the financial operations of our 144-bed psychiatric hospital. As a key member of the leadership team, the CFO will be responsible for monitoring and controlling accounts receivables, ensuring that cash collection goals are met, and that net revenue is accurately stated. This role involves facilitating weekly meetings with the CEO and Business Office Manager to communicate results and identify areas for improvement. The CFO will also work closely with the Business Office, Intake, and Utilization Review departments to maximize patient revenue and improve the overall profitability of the hospital. In addition to financial oversight, the CFO will develop and implement policies and procedures that align with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines. This includes preparing monthly financial statements and reports, conducting account analyses, and ensuring compliance with federal and local tax regulations. The CFO will also prepare the annual budget in collaboration with management and department heads, reviewing prior financial results and discussing anticipated changes to highlight future needs and trends of the facility. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role within a healthcare setting, along with a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; a master's degree is preferred. The CFO must have a strong understanding of hospital financial operations and be skilled in interpreting financial analysis and performance information. This position requires a proactive approach to financial management and the ability to negotiate contract terms with third-party payers to maximize reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and controls accounts receivables to ensure cash collection goals are met and net revenue is properly stated.
  • Facilitates weekly A/R meetings with the CEO and Business Office Manager to communicate results and monitor areas of weakness.
  • Improves the profitability of the hospital by continually monitoring costs, payor mix, and length of stay to maximize reimbursement.
  • Assists in negotiation of contract terms with third-party payers and prepares pro-forma analysis of new programs and contracts.
  • Develops and monitors policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports/analyses.
  • Provides required reporting, reconciliations, and account analyses for various departments and auditors.
  • Prepares the annual budget in conjunction with UHS standards and reviews prior financial results with management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role in a healthcare setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; Master's degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of hospital financial operations and federal/local tax regulations.
  • Skilled at interpreting financial analysis and performance information.
  • Proficient in preparing schedules and reports using electronic spreadsheets and databases.
