About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee is responsible for providing overall leadership and management for financial operations and other assigned functions. This role involves developing strategies and policies, offering financial guidance to management, and managing financial and regulatory risks to ensure the Authority's financial health and compliance with legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, coordinating staff training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
  • Directs human resources, information technology, and other functions to ensure effective operations.
  • Evaluates growth strategies to determine financial needs and risks, assisting in resource allocation to meet objectives.
  • Manages financial and regulatory risk by monitoring compliance with legal requirements and evaluating financial reports.
  • Recommends and implements financial policies, procedures, and systems for proper management of finances.
  • Presents reports, policy proposals, initiatives, and financial information to the board.
  • Provides financial guidance to management staff.
  • Coordinates and manages Authority budgets, including monitoring accounts and preparing revisions.
  • Negotiates deals with investors to secure financing.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field.
  • 10-12 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
