About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at CHC is responsible for directing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and managing the organization's fiscal operations. This role involves strategic collaboration with executive staff to enhance organizational effectiveness and includes significant authority in hiring and decision-making processes. The CFO will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and the management of public health funds, while also ensuring the integrity of financial data and compliance with external regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all CHC fiscal operations in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • Participates in organizational short- and long-range planning.
  • Develops fiscal plans and budgets, including revenue and expenditure projections.
  • Supervises the Support Services Director, Senior Accountant, Payroll Specialist, Accounts Payable Specialist, and Financial Analyst.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Accounting, Payroll, and Billing departments.
  • Develops and revises operational policies and accounting systems for internal controls.
  • Creates organizational pricing strategies, including fee schedules and discounts.
  • Ensures data integrity from EMR, payroll, and other databases.
  • Develops risk management strategies and procures necessary insurance coverages.
  • Acts as the principal liaison with external accountants and agencies.
  • Responsible for financial audits and external financial reports.
  • Identifies financial tools to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Participates in strategic planning and problem-solving as part of the Executive team.
  • Monitors cash flow, costs, revenues, and vendor performance.
  • Assists in the development and management of legal and contractual arrangements.
  • Works with Grants to ensure proper utilization of grant funding.
  • Prepares and presents financial statements and operating reports to management and the Board.

Requirements

  • At least five years of financial/accounting experience with progressively more responsibility.
  • A Master's Degree or professional accounting certificate.
  • Prior supervisory/people management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and monitoring budgets.
  • Knowledge of automated accounting/IS systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, with extensive experience in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Proven ability to monitor and manage numerous important tasks.
  • Proven ability to meet hard deadlines.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
