About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Northwest Center (NWC) plays a crucial and strategic role in the organization, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and collaborating closely with the Board of Directors. This position is pivotal in supporting NWC's strategic growth initiatives, capital investments, and financial reporting. The CFO is expected to be a leader who can maximize resources to achieve the organization's strategic objectives, attract and retain top talent, and build a robust financial infrastructure. The CFO will also be instrumental in establishing strong relationships with division leaders, front-line staff, the Executive team, the Board, and key external stakeholders, including donors, capital sources, and corporate advisors. In addition to leadership and communication responsibilities, the CFO will manage complex strategic transitions such as mergers, acquisitions, lending agreements, strategic alliances, and divestitures. The role involves direct management of the Controller and oversight of the broader accounting and finance teams, creating an organization and staffing plan to support significant, ongoing growth across diverse business and mission segments. The CFO will be responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining talent to build a strong financial infrastructure. The CFO will also manage the short and long-term capital structure to finance the company's strategy, sustain growth, raise debt and equity financing, and monitor the company's cost of capital. This includes overseeing the company's cash and liquidity concerning short and long-term working capital requirements and investing excess cash. The CFO will ensure operational excellence in financial systems and reporting, translating long-term strategies into actionable, motivating, and measurable goals. Engaging in strategic planning, growth initiatives, and financial forecasting will also be key components of this role. Furthermore, the CFO will identify, mitigate, and monitor hazard and business risks, integrating risk mitigation processes into line management.
