About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Greater El Monte Community Hospital is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the hospital. This position requires the establishment and monitoring of comprehensive financial plans and budgets that align with the hospital's business unit goals and adhere to sound business practices. The CFO will manage the financial affairs of the facility, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, government regulations, and accreditation standards. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient utilization of resources to meet the organization's needs while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. In addition to overseeing the financial operations, the CFO will be responsible for communicating financial information to corporate management in a clear and accurate manner. This includes interfacing with external agencies, physicians, and the community ethically and transparently. The CFO will also establish clear objectives and goals for the business development department staff, ensuring that the department operates within budget guidelines. This position involves hiring, evaluating, and developing subordinate staff, providing feedback to motivate and maintain positive morale within the unit. The CFO will work closely with senior management to evaluate product line profitability, set financial goals, and implement procedures to maximize financial results. This includes developing operational indicators and monitoring compliance with government regulations and internal policies. The CFO will also direct the overall financial plans and accounting practices of the hospital, ensuring timely financial and statistical reporting to the corporate management team. Responsibilities

  • Comply with the CFO Accountability Policy (FI-01).
  • Manage financial plans and accounting practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

  • Meet all corporate budgetary and financial goals.
  • Ensure efficient operation of the finance department.

  • Develop the assigned departments operating budget with staff and monitor compliance.
  • Hire, evaluate, develop, discipline, and terminate subordinate staff as necessary.
  • Provide feedback to subordinate staff to motivate and ensure positive morale.
  • Ensure development of staff within the finance department.
  • Establish functions and qualifications for positions within the business development department.
  • Develop staffing plans for cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Work with senior management to evaluate product line profitability and set financial goals.
  • Develop and implement operational indicators and monitor compliance with regulations.
  • Utilize outside resources to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Direct overall financial plans and accounting practices of the hospital.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a hospital CFO.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an executive management position.
  • Strong accounting background is required.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy regulations is necessary.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external resources.
  • Strong human relation skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to manage resources within budgetary guidelines.
