About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Boys Town is a key leadership role responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization. This includes overseeing financial planning, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The CFO will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization while maximizing the impact of its programs and services. The position requires a strategic thinker who can align financial strategies with the organization's mission and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and long-term goals
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including the development of financial forecasts and long-term financial plans
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the Board of Trustees, Executive Leaders, and Operational Leaders
  • Identify and manage financial risks to the organization, including maintaining adequate insurance coverage and managing investments
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations, as well as nonprofit and hospital industry standards
  • Manage and mentor the finance and accounting teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
  • Oversee the financial management of grants, including reporting and compliance with donor requirements
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and Board Finance and Audit Committee
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial management systems and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or related field required
  • CPA or CMA required
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant senior financial management and leadership experience preferably in a Non-profit organization of similar or greater scope is preferred
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of nonprofit accounting principles
  • Proficient in financial management software
  • Excellent leadership communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels
  • Mission-driven with a passion for youth, families, and communities
  • High integrity and commitment to transparency and accountability
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate and solve problems.
