About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Oklahoma City Public Schools is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the district. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the CFO will manage the district's financial systems, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies while facilitating the strategic financial goals of the district. This position requires collaboration with district leadership to develop and implement effective financial strategies that support the district's budget and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve financial systems for all district activities.
  • Facilitate the strategic goals of the District by collaborating with leadership on financial strategies.
  • Oversee budget development and implementation processes.
  • Manage accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with board policy, federal and state law, and GAAP.
  • Provide financial transparency to district members and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • Fifteen (15) years of accounting, budgeting, and finance experience required.
  • Five (5) years in an education or business management position with multiple department responsibilities.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Knowledge of School Finance Law.
  • Ability to pass the bonded insurance requirements.
  • Strong quantitative skills for analyzing financial data.
