About the position

The Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) at OHSU provides executive leadership and management for the organization, focusing on the design, implementation, and use of clinical informatics solutions. The CHIO collaborates with clinical leadership and champions informatics as a tool for change and quality improvement, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and population health management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and management for clinical informatics solutions.
  • Ensure safe and efficient design and implementation of informatics systems.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to involve patients in system planning and evaluation.
  • Champion the use of informatics for quality improvement and change management.
  • Serve on committees integral to healthcare operations and strategy.

Requirements

  • MD degree with formal training or experience in informatics.
  • 5-7 years of experience in medical information technology.
  • Recent medical practice experience as a physician.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MS, MMM or equivalent).
  • Experience in an Academic Medical Center with community hospital ties.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Training in medical informatics is highly desirable.
  • Board certification in clinical informatics.
  • MD licensed to practice in Oregon.
