The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as a vital member of the Executive team at the New College Institute (NCI), playing a critical role in designing and maintaining a comprehensive technology portfolio that supports workforce excellence. The CIO is tasked with establishing an IT culture that emphasizes innovation and customer focus through strategic leadership of NCI's technology programs, platforms, systems, and resources. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including the creation and delivery of innovative strategies to meet current and future needs, governance of systems, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT resources. A significant aspect of this position involves managing the migration to cloud providers for both platform as a service and software as a service, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with customers, business and academic partners, and stakeholders. Additionally, the CIO will oversee data analytics and business intelligence initiatives, including business process engineering, to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The CIO will be responsible for leading a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and motivation to ensure the successful implementation of multiple complex IT projects. This includes offering strategic IT advice to executives and stakeholders at all levels, as well as interacting and consulting with outside vendors. The position requires a strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to convey IT concepts and project updates to diverse audiences. Furthermore, the CIO will manage budget development and administration, ensuring that financial details are communicated clearly to executive decision-makers. The role demands sound business judgment, particularly in navigating changing priorities and financial constraints, and the ability to negotiate and build consensus among internal and external stakeholders to resolve enterprise-level issues.
