About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Office of Public Instruction (OPI) is responsible for leading the Data and Information Technology Division, ensuring alignment with OPI's goals while providing essential support to staff, school districts, educators, students, and families. The role encompasses overseeing IT and data security, systems development, application support, data collection systems, and technical support, while also managing OPI's IT hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data and Information Technology Division at OPI.
  • Ensure alignment of IT services with OPI's goals.
  • Oversee IT and data security, systems development, and application support.
  • Manage data collection systems, data analysis, and database management.
  • Provide technical support to OPI users and school districts.
  • Administer the Computers for Schools program, distributing surplus computer equipment.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in information systems, computer engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 10 or more years of job-related work experience.
  • 5 or more years of senior supervision experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of IT technology and services, including cloud computing and cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Knowledge of IT governance frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled in financial management related to IT budgeting and resource allocation.
