About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of Information and Technology Management at UNDP is responsible for leading the organization's digital transformation efforts. This role involves overseeing the architecture and engineering of UNDP's digital corporate platforms, ensuring cybersecurity, data management, and project implementation. The CIO will set the strategic vision for IT, manage a diverse team, and drive the implementation of the IT Strategy 2020-2024 to enhance UNDP's information technology capabilities and support its mission of sustainable development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Information & Technology Management team to drive UNDP's digital transformation efforts.
  • Set the strategic vision and implement the IT Strategy.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of IT projects such as UNALL and Quantum.
  • Formulate corporate IT strategies, policies, and standards.
  • Manage BMS/ITM staff, consultants, and contractors globally.
  • Supervise the design and operation of UNDP's cybersecurity architecture and risk management.
  • Ensure the effective provision of Cyber Security services and oversee risk management.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance of data management services.
  • Promote effective IT governance and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Masters) in Computer Science, Information Communications Technology, Business Administration or closely related fields.
  • A minimum of 16 years of experience in senior managerial, information and communication technology positions.
  • In-depth expertise in managing large ERP systems, SharePoint, Cloud, and web-based IT solutions.
  • Technical leadership experience in developing and implementing enterprise architectures and IT strategy.
  • Experience in change management and culture change activities to support organizational transformation.
  • Fluency in English; working knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

  • Experience in forming partnerships in the field of digital technologies to advance organizational objectives.
  • Knowledge of the UN system.
