About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at UNDP is responsible for leading the Information & Technology Management team to drive the organization's digital transformation efforts. This role involves overseeing the architecture and engineering of UNDP's digital corporate platforms, ensuring cybersecurity, data management, and project implementation. The CIO will set the strategic vision for IT, manage a diverse workforce, and ensure that technology investments align with UNDP's corporate vision and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Information & Technology Management team and support BMS work planning and results reporting.
  • Set the strategic vision and implement the IT Strategy for UNDP.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of IT projects such as UNALL and Quantum.
  • Formulate corporate IT strategies, policies, and standards.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership in the procurement and management of information and communication technologies.
  • Ensure the availability and service level of UNDP's central ICT services, incorporating innovative technology and risk management.
  • Manage BMS/ITM staff, consultants, and contractors globally, focusing on talent development.
  • Oversee the design and operation of UNDP's cybersecurity architecture and risk management.
  • Ensure effective data governance and promote data-driven decision making.
  • Support UNDP's digital and IT governance mechanisms.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Masters) in Computer Science, Information Communications Technology, Business Administration or closely related fields.
  • A minimum of 16 years of experience in senior managerial positions in information and communication technology.
  • In-depth expertise in managing large ERP systems, SharePoint, Cloud, and web-based IT solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex, corporate global scale IT solutions.
  • Technical leadership experience in developing and implementing enterprise architectures and IT strategy.
  • Experience in change management and culture change activities.
  • Knowledge of the UN system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in another UN language is desirable.
