About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Centre College is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all technology-related operations and driving digital transformation on campus. This role involves aligning technology initiatives with the institution's strategic goals, managing technology resources, and ensuring faculty and students have access to essential digital tools. The CIO will lead change management initiatives, advise senior leadership on technology matters, and foster an inclusive culture that embraces diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and drive all technology-related operations and transformations at Centre College.
  • Ensure coordination, security, efficiency, and effectiveness of the College's technology resources.
  • Remain conversant with the latest developments in technology such as cloud computing, data analytics, AI, and cybersecurity.
  • Lead campus-wide change management initiatives to support the adoption of new technologies.
  • Advise the President, CFO, and other senior leaders on technology and data security matters.
  • Provide leadership to the staff of Information Technology Services, including task assignment and performance appraisals.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the technology environment and support services.
  • Serve as a member of the College's Expanded Senior Staff.
  • Coordinate effective communication across campus regarding technology issues.
  • Develop and manage the administrative computing budget and capital technology budget.
  • Design and manage a comprehensive cybersecurity/data security program.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws such as GDPR, FERPA, and HIPAA.
  • Seek corporate and academic partnerships that benefit the College.
  • Oversee the administration of the campus telecommunications system.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an inclusive culture for diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in an appropriate computer field.
  • Experience in the management of information systems, preferably in higher education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or higher education administration.
  • Experience with modern enterprise systems such as ERP and Student Information Systems.
