About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Escambia County is responsible for setting the IT strategy and ensuring that all necessary systems are in place to support the County's operations. The CIO will oversee the IT department, ensuring that technology is reliable and responsive, and will lead initiatives to optimize internal operations and improve customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Sets objectives and strategies for the IT department
  • Selects and implements suitable technology to streamline internal operations
  • Designs and customizes technological systems to improve customer experience
  • Plans the implementation of new systems and provides guidance to IT professionals
  • Approves purchases of technological equipment and software
  • Oversees the technological infrastructure to ensure optimal performance
  • Directs and organizes IT-related projects
  • Monitors changes in technology to discover competitive advantages
  • Analyzes costs, value, and risks of IT to advise management
  • Supervises staff, including prioritizing work and conducting performance evaluations
  • Directs activities of the department, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
  • Serves on internal and external committees to promote organizational effectiveness
  • Provides administrative assistance to higher-level administrators
  • Responds to requests for information and provides expert guidance
  • Evaluates the impact of legal or regulatory changes on the organization
  • Develops and administers budgets and manages financial operations
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Seven years of management experience in the area of specialty
  • Valid driver's license from state of residence
