About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) / IT Manager at the Oregon Department of Energy is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing information technology strategies that align with statewide objectives. This role involves collaborating with various agency departments to enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and the overall effectiveness of IT resources. The position supports the agency's mission by maintaining a modern technology infrastructure and ensuring data security while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Chief Information Officer for the agency.
  • Plan and organize short-term and long-range IT strategies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with agency departments to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the management of IT resources and project delivery.
  • Ensure the security of information and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate enterprise technology efforts with Enterprise Information Services.

Requirements

  • Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience, or three years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technology policies, practices, and processes.
  • Experience in application development, IT infrastructure management, and data security.
  • Strong customer service orientation and responsiveness to customer requirements.
  • Effective project management skills and experience managing projects with large data sets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Information Technology vendor management and purchasing procedures.
  • Experience in strategic planning and managing change in rapidly changing technologies.
